Wow, this place still had the door open. Pretty crazy how long it has been since I showed some love to this place. Well, here I am, yet again, back to hopefully continue putting some content out.

Some might wonder where I have been, some may not even care…that’s OK. For those that were wondering, yes, I am still alive and kicking. I am still in the industry, even after the VMware by Broadcom gutting. (RIP VMware, you were a great company!) I took a long hiatus from writing and even being in the community eye. I wanted to lend more time to my family, friends, and just life in general. I know most of you know what I am talking about. Many times in our lives, at least in our industry, we tend to hyperfocus on things because if you aren’t learning, you’re dying.

Some have reached out over the years and more so recently trying to get the inside scoop to what all went down at VMware. I am here to tell you that I don’t want to talk about the specifics, however, VMware was a great company and held a big spot in my heart and life. One of the best companies I have ever worked for and will always have a spot in my heart. As for further detail, I will just let it be as it has opened another chapter of my life.

After my final days at VMware, I took about a six month hiatus to recharge and recenter. For those that have worked on the vendor side of our industry, you understand the long weeks and the constant push from the business. It is a competitive world and we played in it. Fast forward to August…

In August I started a new journey, I went back to the other side of the table as a customer. I took a position with a large global oil and gas drilling company as their Principal Cloud Engineer. Some may ask, and yes, VMware is still in my blood but so is cloud. My work now consists of Nutanix, VMware, Azure, and GCP. The biggest focus is within Azure for me now. I am hoping to take you all along the journey with me, within reason and with massive amounts of sanitation, but the journey nonetheless. It will be an exciting one and I am looking forward to bringing some content soon.

I have more time now, which is good for me, my family, and others involved in my life. Thanks for checking out this post, I look forward to bringing some, hopefully helpful, content for others to enjoy.

Stick around, I will floating by soon.
